Info

Anchors Away, established through the Medical University of South Carolina in 1993 and serving our community ever since, is dedicated to getting people with disabilities out on the water.  The mission of the Anchors Away Program is to help give people with disabilities the courage to try again, build self esteem and improve their quality of life.

Our staff and volunteers are thoroughly trained in the latest disability issues, adaptive equipment, techniques, and safety.  We also incorporate successful members of the community that have disabilities as peer counselors to assist families newly confronted with a disability.

The program currently serves all types of persons with disabilities including but not limited to amputees, stroke victims, spinal cord injuries, minorities, the elderly and wounded veterans returning home.
